Data

Overview

However well you care for your PC and storage media, data loss can and does occur. At PF Consultants, we have been working with computers since before PCs were released on to the market back in 1981 and can probably help you recover your 'lost' data.

There can be various reasons why your data may have 'disappeared:
You may simply have saved it to a 'wrong' location and just cannot find it, you may have accidentally deleted it or there may be an actual system problem which has obliterated your files.

The [Help] page offers a few tips on finding and 'un-deleting' files but where you have not  only deleted the files but subsequently removed them from the Recycle-Bin, recovering the information is somewhat more problematic.

The [Info] page gives a brief explanation of how your computer stores the data and outlines how even when it resolutely refuses to open a file or read your disk, the information you want may still exist and be accessible. At worst it may be partially recoverable and although the file itself will be lost; if it contained some irreplaceable data, we may be able to salvage enough fragments to be of value. Sometimes files or documents just get slightly corrupted, preventing programs such as word-processors or spreadsheets from recognising the data. We have the expertise to repair these files and can make them readable again.

A more sinister reason for data loss may be that someone has intentionally and maliciously tampered with the system for some illicit purpose. We can still locate and recover data under these circumstances and if appropriate, our Investigative Forensic Analysis procedure can identify the content of fragments of data wherever it may reside on the disk
